Community House & Picnic Shelters
The W.H. “Bill” Barker Community House at Hyco Lake Recreation Park and Campground provides an ideal location for parties and family gatherings. Bring your food and guests and use the kitchen, outdoor grill and large deck overlooking the lake. Rental is $275 (+ $150 security deposit) for use from 8am-11pm. Holidays and holiday weekend rental rate is $350 plus a $150 security deposit. Gate admittance to patrons attending events at the community building is free. The building will hold approximately 125 people.
The building was named in honor of Bill Barker, retired Chief Park Ranger for Person-Caswell Lake Authority.
For day trips and get-togethers with family and friends, there are also three covered picnic shelters that can be rented for $35 each, with a $35 refundable deposit. Gate admittance is not included with the rental of the shelter and each vehicle must pay the $10 per vehicle gate fee. Each shelter has water and electric service, and access to the many grills and tables that are located throughout the park.
Musical events can be held at the Hyco Lake Amphitheatre, complete with a stage and large viewing area. A popular annual event is the Flem Whitt Beach Music Festival, sponsored by the Roxboro Jaycees. The fundraiser is held in August every year.
